Step Into Line Dancing: Faubourg du Mascaret
Resident Activities
Every week at Pavillon LeBlanc, something special happens, residents lace up their dancing shoes, gather in the community room, and follow the joyful rhythm of line dancing. Thanks to Robert and Lorraine Drapeau, a dynamic duo with over 40 years of ballroom dancing experience, this beloved activity has become a highlight at Faubourg du Mascaret.
Originally introduced to the Faubourg du Mascaret community through a loved one at Pavillon Gallant, Robert and Lorraine offer line dancing classes twice a week at Pavillon LeBlanc: a beginner session on Tuesdays with slower tempos, and an advanced class on Fridays for those ready to pick up the pace.
Their journey began years ago in Florida, where they spent winters as snowbirds. When the local line dancing instructor stepped away, they took the reins and haven’t looked back.
What makes their classes special isn’t just the steps — it’s the connection. Lorraine curates playlists that blend French and English music, classics and contemporary hits, to engage participants. Their thoughtful approach helps residents stay active, improve memory, boost social interaction, and even sharpen directional skills.
More than just instructors, Robert and Lorraine have become a cherished part of the Faubourg du Mascaret family, often invited to special events throughout the community. As they say, what they love most here is simple: the people — kind, welcoming, and ready to dance.
